Closed-Cell Foam

CLOSED-CELL SPRAY FOAM IN BRADENTON, FLORIDA

Going green is not just a movement — it can be your lifestyle. You can create a green home with closed-cell spray foam, which can be applied by Advanced Spray Foam Insulation in Bradenton, Florida.

ADD STRENGTH TO YOUR BUILDING

Closed-cell spray foam gets its name from the fact that more than 90% of the cells or bubbles in the foam are closed and not broken. This makes the foam rigid and helps add strength to building structures. The racking strength of a framed wall can be doubled with closed-cell spray foam, giving the closed structure of the foam a greater resistance to air leakage and water. Therefore, the building becomes resistant to mold.

OFFSET BY EXTRA BENEFITS

Closed-cell spray foam weighs about four times as much as open-cell spray foam per inch of thickness. This means that even though closed-cell only has to be half as thick for the same "R" factor, it requires more material. Because of this, closed-cell foam costs a bit more than open-cell spray foam. Due to the mold problems and hurricanes in Florida, many experts believe the extra cost is offset by the extra benefits.

THE "R" FACTOR

The "R" factor, or insulation value, of closed-cell spray foam is R7.1 per inch, a little more than twice that of open-cell at approximately R3.5 per inch. This allows us to reach the same "R" factor with only half the thickness when using closed-cell spray foam as opposed to open-cell spray foam.
